Overall, this was a great cruise on a great ship! My hubby and I took this cruise as an anniversary present to ourselves. We decided to take our 14 month old (at time of sailing) so he was added about two months before the departure date. I called and upgraded us to a Grand Suite about two weeks before the cruise due to a big drop in the price. This was the best decision ever!
Our cabin (U87) was great and our room steward was amazing! Having a bath tub for our son was a great decision because I'm not sure how we would have made it work with a blow up tub in a smaller room. The cabin was clean and the steward was very attentive. There were some areas of the ship that showed a little wear and tear, but that's to be expected since it's been two and a half years since the last dry dock. She's getting a small refurb at the beginning of January so the little places on the carpet and some of the rust spots will be gone in a few weeks.
The service was amazing all over the ship. We encountered a few crew members who didn't seem to be having a good day, but that's to be expected with any employees who deal with a large number of people day in and day out. 99% of the time we only saw smiles from most of the crew though. Like usual, everybody remembered our names and our preferences. Everybody we passed interacted with our son and it just made his cruise. He made so many friends during the 5 days we were on board.
The only real complaint we had was the volume of the activities that were going on. It seemed like they always cranked up the volume a little too much when someone was using a microphone or performing. When they had someone on the Lido deck using a mic to talk during an activity, we always had to pack up and leave quickly because the noise was so loud we couldn't hear each other talk and it terrified our son. He can tolerate very loud sounds and it usually doesn't bother him at all. We took him to several concerts around our town over the summer and he always enjoyed it, but most of the entertainment on the ship was unbearable.
Other than the one negative, the rest of the trip was amazing and one that we will definitely remember. We are already considering another cruise on this ship.
