Carnival Elation Cruise Review by jlcarter1975: Great little vacation

Great little vacation
Destination: Western Caribbean
Embarkation: New Orleans
My husband and I took a four-day cruise to Cozumel from the Port of New Orleans. We arrvied to the cruise terminal fairly early (about 11 a.m.). We got checked in quickly and they actually began boarding at 11:30 instead of noon (usual boarding time). Our room was not ready at 12:30 as indicated, but they let us drop off our carry-on bags and we hung out on the Serenity Deck (a nice place to be if you don't have children).
Our interior cabin was roomy, but laid out in an atypical manner. The bed was more or less in the middle of the room, but we made due. We had a wardrobe and another small closet. There was ample space for all of our stuff. The bathroom was also adequate. The water (even the cold) is hot, so you had to be careful in that regard.
The entertainment was typical of the cruise lines. They did not have a musical production show every night however. We didn't make it to any of the comedy acts, but many were available. There were two comedians on board. More We enjoyed the music at Duke's Piano Bar. There was name-that-tune and sing-a-longs nightly.
We enjoyed the food. We tried to eat in the dining rooms whenever possible, but did eat at the buffet a few times. Sometimes this lines were long and the buffet tends to be chaotic at times, so I prefer the dining room. On the first sea day, lunch service in the dining room was rather slow, but I believe many cruisers were trying to use their free drink coupons and it was busier than expected. We order room service as well and it was delivered rather quickly and was of good quality and freshness.
We did get into Cozumel later than expected so our time there was shortened. There was still a long line of passengers trying to return to the ship at 3:30 so we did leave later than expected as well.
Overall, it was another successful cruising experience. We enjoy these types of vacations and appreciate the level of service extended and the overall value of the floating resort. Less
