Sometimes I am dismayed by people's reviews of the Eclipse. When you consider the beauty of the ship, good service, number of ports visited and food quality/variety, $ for $, this can't be beat. If we were to book a room at a top resort in the Caribbean, we'd be paying at least double the price of our entire cruise. That doesn't include the cost of food, transportation and activities. For our 14 night cruise, we were transported to 8 wonderful islands, with an ocean view on our veranda. Most of the food was great given the situation of having to serve thousands of meals. We were happy to have sushi several nights at the buffet and enjoy outdoors at the stern while stargazing. We also ate at all three specialty restaurants and were fine with paying a premium as, again, the cost of the cruise was low. O.K., the main dining room wasn't my favorite as service as lacking, but I found the food to be very good.
We love the various bars and clubs on the ship and drank lots of great wine. Never had to wait for equipment in the fitness center, nor computer for internet service. We also didn't have any problem getting chairs for sunning. Even though the ship was booked, the only time we felt the crowds was in Fort Lauderdale. I don't believe that was Celebrity's fault, but rather the port as they stuck in an absolutely terrible terminal that wasn't equipped for our size ship.
Celebrity now offers the service of having your luggage checked through to the airline if you are flying out of FLL or MIA. It saved us a lot of grief and we didn't see those bags until we arrived at our final destination.
We plan to sail on Celebrity again and look forward to it.
