Holland America.. a different perspective

Sail Date: November 2012
Destination: Eastern Caribbean
Embarkation: Fort Lauderdale (Port Everglades)

We stayed at the Hampton Inn, Stirling road the night before, and did Bubba Gumps and Jaxson's Ice Cream. Thr hotel was wonderful, great breakfast in the morning and then it was off to the port. We check in. arrived at the port, dropped off the luggage, and headed to check in. We were through check in and on the ship by 11 am.

This ship is beautiful, spacious and alive with color. The staff was friendly, helpful, and made the cruise so enjoyable. From sailaway parties to entertainment, to trivia there was always something happening around the ship. Brent Roberts the CD did an awesome job.

One of the highlights was a midnight chocolate buffet.. in all of our cruises I have never seen anything like this fantastic spead.

Our ports were Grand Turk, St. Thomas, and San Juan. Grand Turk's was Margaritaville, and collecting sea glass in the beautiful blue waters. St. Thomas was visiting the second oldest synagogue in the western hemisphere and the Ice Bar. This is a More fantastic place.. beautiful ice, coats, mittens, and a chance to drink in 7 degree temps in a 90 degree world! San Juan we took the free trolley around town and visited both of the forts. I love history so this was awesome. After that it was off to Senor Frogs.

We were supposed to go to Half Moon Cay, but due to an emergency of a "missing person" The first call was like at 5:15 am on thursday morning, and so all Thursday and Friday we were stuck in the middle of the water with the coast guard. After finally being released, it was sailing back to Fort Lauderdale.

Kudos have to go to the Captain and Staff for the way this emergency was handled. Professionally, Politely, and with respect.

Why did I state about the difference? The last time we were on a Holland ship I vowed never to return. The Eurodam and her staff has certainly changed our minds, and we will definately be booking her again. Less

Port and Shore Excursions

Plenty of things to do right at the port from shopping, drinking or just relaxing in the ocean. Brink a small fishing net and collect sea glass. In all the times we have been here.. never knew it existed here. There is a great tour that takes you around town and to the lighthouse, but we have done this before.

thanks to the advisor Kelly on the ship, she told us to take the free trolley downtown and it will take you around the town. We went to both forts for $5. I was awesome. After walking back to downtown, we went to Senor Frogs for a great party time.

we took a taxi to downtown and then walked up Synagogue Hill and went to the second oldest synagogue in the western hemisphere. What a fantastic place to visit, and thanks to Cantor Diane.
