Don't bring surge protectors or extension cords

Sail Date: November 2012
Destination: Panama Canal & Central America
Embarkation: San Diego

New policy not listed on web site as of Dec 2012 that surge protectors with cords and extension cords are "prohibited items".

Our surge protector was taken and not returned. Mario, guest relations supervisor, told us on the 2nd day that it would be tested and returned. He had the wrong information. They didn't test it and didn't return it. They gave us a 3 into one outlet so we could charge 4 items. We traveled with two tablets and two smartphones.

Food and service was great. One time cabin attendant left the door open after cleaning the room. Fortunately nothing was stolen. We brought that to attention of cabin attendant and management.

Enjoyed the Celebrity excursions. Dining room service and food great. Especially liked the fresh fruit and nuts along with plain yogurt for breakfast. Deserts and entrees were outstanding in main dinning room. Soups were weak. Appetizers and salads good.

The entertainment was good More especially the classical trio. Some of the guest singers were not that good. Guest comedians were lame.

Liked the size of the ship. Wasn't crowded. Lots of quiet places to go during the day.

Had guest expert to inform us of the canal and the crossing. Less

Cabin review: Celebrity Infinity Oceanview Stateroom Vista Deck (7) 2011

Cabin 2011 was good. I liked being close to the water. Nice window. Everything worked well in cabin. Lots of storage space. Good bed.

Port and Shore Excursions

Didn't do any excursions. Very attractive setting. Lots of shops and restaurants within easy walking distance.

Botanical Garden

(5.5)
Nice bus and enjoyable ride to botanical garden which is at a higher elevation away from the city. Fascinating guided tour of garden. Definitely a great tour if you like plants and nature. Also stopped at the fort and went back a different route. We got to see a lot of Columbia. Guide friendly and helpful.

Ship docks at industrial area. There are few shops around the dock. Probably not a good idea to wander around this neighborhood. Considered an excursion but they didn't seem that interesting. The train was appealing but expensive so we didn't do it.

There's a Walmart across the street from the cruise ship terminal and a really nice shopping center next to the Walmart. In the shopping center is a starbucks with free wi fi.

Coffee Plantation

(5.5)
Coffee plantation excursion was great. Very friendly and informative guides at plantation and on bus. Learned a lot about coffee and Costa Rica. Also went to craft area and saw water wheel powering workshop. Good local food included with tour. Comfortable bus and good roads. The town of Puntarenas enjoyable for walking around. Nice beach area. Would like to go back to Costa Rica on another vacation. Great country and friendly people. Felt very safe and comfortable in Costa Rica
