For the past 6 years we have cruised with 3 different cruise lines, twice each with Royal Caribbean, Celebrity, and Princess. Princess has the smallest accessible rooms of the 3, although the Grand was adequate.
I was not overly thrilled with this year's 2012 vacation.
Here are the pros and cons:
Pros: really nice ship, plenty of shopping, albeit expensive, nice swimming pools, whirlpools, and plenty of good food, particularly the Horizon. Entertainment was ok, crew service was excellent. Although the crew did make it a point to be courteous, friendliness was not a prime target. The ship was kept very clean and kempt.
Cons: 4 rough seas days. Not stormy, but rough, and WINDY!!!! Whistled right through the balcony door. Can't control the weather, but must do something about the loud whistling. One day the ship lost propulsion, both engines, and we dead floated in the water without stabilizers. Not a good day. Also, while at it, 1/2 the ship lost electricity, but that More
didn't last long, about 10-15 minutes. Because of the delay, we lost several hours of visiting the next destination, and were there for just a few hours instead of the day. There were several areas around the ship where water was dripping from the ceilings. It's surprising when you seat somewhere, and you feel water drops dripping on your head, your shoulders, laps, etc. Not a good sign.
The restaurants were good. Most servers were attentive, and in some areas excellent. We made it a point to have the same table and crew every evening because of the excellence of the waiters. However, one evening the table was not available, and were seated at the corner with the most horrific, miserable, cold waiters you can have. To add to it, the first evening the matre-de and head waiter were not very receptive to the needs of a handicapped vacationer.
The gym was ok, but lacked equipment. Not enough stationary bikes, although numerous sporting bikes.
Overall I would rate this cruise as a 2.5, maybe a 3 to be nice, on a 5 scale. Less
