Meditteranian Maintenance Cruise

Sail Date: November 2012
Destination: Europe - Eastern Mediterranean
Embarkation: Other

Whilst not critical of the Captain and crew on this Crown Princess Cruise Ship who were all excellent. I am critical of the Princess Cruise Line for scheduling a complete deck replacement of deck 15 Lido Deck for the whole cruise trip from embarkation in Rome to when we disembarked 12 days later in Venice.

From day one all passengers had to endure continuous deck replacement with workers sawing, chiseling and sanding this deck with debris being continually being blown across the whole deck and even into the cabin hallways. The deck became almost unusable for passengers even though the maintenance workers tried to limit the extent of the blown around debris by wetting down the deck area, it became almost impossible because of the high winds across the ship.

I am concerned that this Cruise Line can think that this is an acceptable condition for Cruise passengers to accept as part of their Princess cruise experience. If Princess Cruises had known that maintenance was More scheduled for this Cruise at this time, It should have pre-warned intending passengers booking on this cruise of the maintenance schedule giving them the option of opting out.

Will we be taking another Princess Cruise? Only if we want another Dry Dock experience! Less

Cabin review: Crown Princess L249

Tidy room noisy, but acceptable on a short voyage.

Definitely take this tour as the museum has a multitude of wonders!

City Tour

Another wasted Bus tour as we only got to see buildings covered with graffiti, and the Acropolis so far away it might as well have been in another Country. Would have been better to do our own thing.

Cancelled all booked Princess tours and just did own own thing. Glad we did, because we had a great time exploring Corfu with another couple, and got some great photo's.

Another good place to visit, but everything is rather expensive here. This City is a fortified castle, and so clean. Cats are everywhere, and all though no one seems to own them, they look well fed and healthy. Plenty of photo opportunities here.

Not worth the money and time would be better spent touring the shops and buying all matter of things in the Bazaar's as it's probably the best place to find a quality leather or rug bargain.

Ephesus

Again another wasted bus tour with the Ephesus museum being closed and looking at Ephesus from a distance. Hardly worth the trouble.

Interesting tour.

Island Tour

Highlight was getting off the Bus and touring Fira on our own. Bus tour doesn't want you to take the cable car back down as they save money on cable car tickets on unused tickets which are paid for on this tour.

Ah Venice! What else can one say. It's just marvelous and although they only take Euro, no American dollars etc it has sights only dreamed of.
