Our first transatlantic cruise began in Southampton, ngland. My husband and I flew over on Iceland Air with a stop in its capital. The flight was fine but there was no food, except with purchase for a 5 hour flight. We took the free hotel shuttle to the Marriott Heathrow Airport which was easy. The hotel was fine and the inside restaurants were excellent. Their dinner restaurant, Tuscany, served excellent food with great service. We took the bus and then the tubes into central London and went to Harrods and explored the area. The following morning we left for Southampton using smithsforairports. They were excellent, efficient and the driver was so professional and friendly. We will definitely use them again.
Embarkment was fast and easy. The ship is my favorite Celebrity ship. Although we sailed on the Silhouette in May to Croatia and Italy, the artwork on the Eclipse is far better and the food was actually better. Our cabin steward and assistant was excellen, efficient and friendly. Every employee who we met was so accommodating and professional. Fantastic service. hey make you feel like you are the most important person and their only job is to make you happy. The food was outstanding. We had select dining and that worked out well. We found a table position that we liked with great waiters so we requested it every night. Sometimes we ate with others and half the time we enjoyed each others company. The production shows were excellent. there was even a production show one afternoon while crossing the Atlantic. there was plenty to do for the week we crossed. Plenty of lectures, cooking demos, painting classes, etc.I thought we might be bored for 7 days at sea but we weren't. It was like being in a luxury resort for a week without the beach and for a very reasonable price. Wonderful experience...Celebrity never fails to exceed our expectations.
