After many years, my Father (age 77) agreed to go on a cruise. We also had others wanting to join us, and ended up with a part of 8, half of which were first timers. As always, we truly enjoyed our cruise, as a cruise is our favorite vacation. Since Dad would not fly, we drove all the way to Port Canaveral and cruised out of this port for the very first time. Embarkation was very uneventful and before you know it we were in our rooms unpacking. Now, the Bahamas would never be our first choice of cruise destinations, but we had a couple personal reasons for choosing this particular cruise. My favorite stop was at Half Moon Cay, a truly beautiful beach with lunch provided. The other stops in Nassau and Freeport were not very interesting, but we did have 2 very senior citizens on board that were not wanting to walk very far. So we were happy with our cruise in that respect. Carnival Ecstasy was a pretty good ship for first timers as well. In no time Dad was making his way around the ship effortlessly and really took advantage of the Serenity Deck. Note to Carnival: The Serenity Deck is a GREAT idea, we spent lots of time there. Lack of noisy children was welcome, now if you could just get the noisy vulgar adults in the hot tubs to be more respectful this would have been an even better spot for relaxation!!

My final subject review is about the food. What the heck??? Is it just my imagination, or has the quality of cruise lines food deteriorated over the past few years? We checked the dinner menu every day, and only ate in the main dining room twice. We found that the buffet food was at least as good if not better than the main dining room. We were sad about that, as we packed enough nicer clothes to eat in the main dining room the whole cruise. We were also very happy with the anytime dining. Note to Carnival: Keep this feature, as we liked it a lot and would use it on every cruise if we could.

Cabin Review

Balcony

Cabin 8A

Since our first cruise with a balcony, we decided to get one whenever we can. This balcony cabin was exactly what we expected, but the king bed was extremely nice. No surprises, no disappointments.
