We just returned from a FANTASTIC 8 day cruise on Carnival Miracle. Our family of 4 consists of 2 adults and 2 teenagers (age 16 & 17). We originaly booked a balcony room for all 4 of us. After some review I noticed that if we got 2 adjoining rooms the additional fee would be only $200.00. I booked a second room, Having twice the space and 2 bathrooms would be well worth the money. A few weeks before sailing, Carnival called to offer a discounted upgrade to 2 OCEAN SUITES with adjoining balconies. The OCEAN SUITES were PHENOMINAL. We had plenty of space, 2 large baths with jacuzzi tubs, 2 TV's. Our balcony divider was opened to allow us one large balcony. We frequently passed from one room to the next from the balcony. Also since we were in a suite we were given "priority boarding" a nice perc. We saved money at Port Canaveral by renting a car and driving to the "shore excursion" rather than travel with the Carnival bus. We were able to drive to the Airboat Tour, shop at RON JON, go on the beach and see the area for much less than the Carnival Air boat tour. That made up for the few extra dollars we spent on the room. In both Nassau and Freeport we took a taxi to the excursion of our choice. Again another big savings over the Carnival excursions. On the ship the food in the self serve areas were good. The dining room was great. There were many different options to choose. The ship was always clean. The staff was courteous and friendly.

Cabin review: Ocean Suite

OS6170
Deck 6 Empress rooms 6168 and 6170 we joined the balconies for access to each room. Very quiet. Great Balcony. Rooms were large. Lots of storage and closet space. Large bathroom with double sink and jacuzzi tub.

Port and Shore Excursions

Port
A little disappointed at first when I looked out the balcony and saw the Port. It was a refinery with multiple freight shipping crates. More like Port Newark than an island paradise. The other side of the ship was the port with a small marketplace. We paid $5 a piece to take a taxi to Port Lucaya. It was a marketplace that sold souvenirs. The same stuff was at each booth. Some of the islanders were pushy and aggressive. Others were pleasant and friendly. The beach at Port Lucaya was lovely and free.

Took a Taxi for $5.00 per person to the Atlantis Resort. Loved it. We paid half of the Carnival price for the Aquarium. Best I have seen anywhere.
