Smooth Sailing for Australian Seniors

Sail Date: November 2012
Destination: Europe - Eastern Mediterranean
Embarkation: Venice

Excited to be back in Venice and ready for our 7 night cruise, we caught the People Mover to the Dock. Not well signed but we found where to take our luggage (and were given No. 18 for embarkation) and then around the corner to the Embarkation area which was rather chaotic, but we had books to read which passed the time till we lined up yet again to embark quite late in the afternoon, consequently we missed the activities onboard and lunch!
However, our luggage arrived promptly and we were soon getting ready for our first dinner at 6.30.
Our inside Cabin on Deck 7 was nicely furnished, had good storage space, lighting and was very quiet.
Toiletry items are available on request, but a hair dryer was provided.
Lots of choice on the menu, but the service from the kitchen was slow and consequently our meals were often only lukewarm. We were rather surprised that being Italian Cuisine, the pasta dishes were less than spectacular!. We enjoyed the company of English More speaking folk and had a great time together - even arranging a lunch to celebrate a couple of birthdays in the group.
We were aware that English was the fourth language spoken on board, but found the announcements were adequate for us, only problem came when people around began to chat after their language announcement had finished.
We did have concerns about smoking on the ship, but found there were quite a number of non smoking areas and it was not a problem at all.
The Lifejacket/Safety Drill prior to departure was again rather chaotic and very long, definitely needs to be streamlined for future cruises.
We went to 3 Shows in the Theatre and thoroughly enjoyed the music, dancing and the spectacular ice-skating. The Captain's Cocktail Party was prior to one of these and free drinks were greatly appreciated.
the Ports of Call had been a significant reason for booking this cruise and we booked 4 tours after we were on board- 3 of these were a package with a significant discount and we felt they were very good value.
Disembarkation was smooth, and although we left our cabins by 8am, adequate arrangements were made for storing our hand luggage and reclaiming our passports.
We would recommend this ship and cruise to others as we were very satisfied overall. Less

Cabin review: Costa Favolosa 7284

Cabin 7284 Our inside cabin, was adequate and located in an excellent, quiet location. Close to a lift that was helpful for getting to our Dining Room or other areas. Adequate storage for all our needs, and we did get used to the "rope hook" handles! The bathroom was well designed, good lighting and magnifying mirror. Toiletries were available on request. Good lighting in the cabin area too. On the nights when the sea was rough we did not feel a thing! Cabin service was excellent and equal to any we have experienced.
