As Elite members of Celebrity Cruise Lines, having been on 8+ of their ships, we decided after our cruise on the Eclipse (Nov 9, 2012) that this would be our last one. Celebrity has gone downhill over the past several years with our first disappointment being on the Equinox (April 2011), the sister ship to the Eclipse.
The food at the buffet for breakfast and lunch was always the same and never hot. Our first seating dining was close to deplorable with each night's dinner selection getting worse from the previous ones. What has happened to the reputation Celebrity had for years for their 5 star dining??? It is now barely a 2 star!!
The entertainment was much more varied and enjoyable on the Eclipse than the Equinox and is one of the few pluses on this cruise. Cabins were clean and comfortable but we think the public rooms are bland and boring for such new ships. We agree with other reviews of the Eclipse that the debarkation was painful.
The long lines to get off the ship and thru customs/luggage retrieval were awful and we must have had to walk over a mile from the ship thru all of this. With many elderly passengers on this ship who were using walkers and wheelchairs, we can't imagine how they survived thru this process!
