This was our 2ND cruise with Norwegian, our embarkation was smooth and effortless, although the weather was not the best, (pouring rain) however the staff were very efficient in getting us on board.
We were without luggage ( airline lost them ) no luggage for 6 days, this is where NCL really did a wonderful job, they had us provide them the lost luggage forms from the Airline and they followed it up for us on a daily basis, they provided us with some clothing and toiletries, they also provided us with laundry services at no charge and very quick service. The cruise itself was wonderful, a really beautiful ship, spotlessly clean and it was easy to see the pride the staff had in their ship, the food was very good ,with good choices, we did try 2 of the speciality restaurants, this was the only area where we would say the cost was not worth it, we thought the main dining rooms provided excellent food.We did eat at both main restaurants and had no issues with waiting to be seated,we were seated immediately and the service was always very good with food arriving in a timely manner and at the right temperature.
we did go ashore at each of the ports and the disembarking at each port was easy and efficient.
Our Cabin was great, first time to book a balcony (guess it will be balconies from here on )our Cabin Steward Caesar was a great help, he was very attentive to our needs and always had a big smile and a warm welcome.
We really enjoy the Freestyle Cruising it gives us the freedom we want when it comes to having dinner, maybe early one night and late the next night, and we are on a cruise to relax, so we don't enjoy getting all dressed up in suit's and dresses, like the dress up casual.
The entertainment on the Jade was very good and the last show Elements was just great, the ship had lots of variety when it came to music, from piano to jazz and we enjoyed it all.
We do have a few peeves though,we have cruised on other cruise lines and found that NCL has a very high corkage fee for wine you bring on board even if you are going to drink some of it in your cabin,$15 per bottle is a lot, Carnival allows 1 bottle per person and Holland America you can take on as much as you like, NCL needs to make some changes in this area.
My wife enjoys Bingo, however on NCL this is a very expensive game, doesn't appear to be in line with the other cruises we have taken.
In closing we would still book another cruise with Norwegian and have already started the process, we feel that this is the kind of cruise line that fulfills most of what we want in a cruise with the service and food that meets our needs.
