We were looking forward to our 3rd Carnival cruise (we usually cruise on Princess) and likely won't return unless traveling with someone that can't afford another cruise line.
SERENITY DECK; loved this area at the front of the ship! and you can access it at no charge! The staff was friendly. The lounge chairs comfortable. Would have liked to have better music playing (or none at all) but it was very pleasant!
FOOD - my husband feels that it's comparable to our other cruise experiences, I think that it's a step down. They don't open for breakfast, even the buffet, until 7:30AM and their idea of a continental breakfast is lunch meats and a few fruits (this doesn't bode well for those that are used to eating at 6AM every morning). They also close most of their eateries by about 9:30 - the only 'snack' available would then be pizza. I will say that Guy's Burgers are fantastic!!!! The dining room was good - as always the molten chocolate cake will never disappoint.
CABIN: we had an 'interior cabin with a window' at the forward part of the ship and found it pleasant - our room steward was very friendly and good (I didn't find that the staff overall was nearly as attentive as we have found on Princess and RCCL - uncertain if it's due to cost cutting or their standard practice)
PORTS; the ports were fine - Nassau, St. Thomas (we did excursion to St. John's which I would highly recommend), San Juan, and Grand Turk, - the problem here is that this ship has many 1st time cruisers and many of the excursions were booked to begin at the same time we arrived in port (we arrived in St.Thomas a few minutes late) and while they ask everyone to wait and not line up to disembark, everyone swarms the only stairwell that they will use to get off the ship (many were worried that their excursion would leave without them). There was absolutely NO sense of any kind of organization to get people off the ship other than at deck 0 - No staff to be found on decks 1,2,3 of the forward stairways - we had to help a lady with a cane get through the masses to be able to stay with her family to get off the ship - it was like a cattle drive - hated this aspect of this cruise! (fortunately we only did 1 excursion so only had to face this experience once!)
ENTERTAINMENT: stage shows were standard and the comedians were OK (some much better than others) - a shame that they need to have so many 'R' rated shows and combine both for the 'family friendly one' - Seinfeld is able to do hours of shows and not have them be 'R' rated - it is possible! I think that Carnival underestimates their customers.
The Smoke in the main areas - especially on the 5th deck is ever present due to the casino - I don't believe that they offered any smoke-free nights in the casino - needs better ventilation
Likely won't be traveling on the Carnival Liberty any time soon and then it will only be if we are traveling with a large group of people where we aren't as conscious of the lack of customer service
