WOW! We had an incredible time on this cruise! My wife and I traveled on the Carnival Liberty. It was our 4th cruise on Carnival. We were strategically placed at the middle of the ship (upper deck, 6th). This allowed us to quickly move throughout the ship with ease. The food in the formal dinner was much superior to the lido deck food quality. However, the quality of the service provided was outstanding. The room steward was always helpful to our needs. We loved our balcony room; we were on the port side. It was a good view of the activities on land.
The ports of call were very good. We had already been to Nassau, Bahamas but found walking around pretty interesting. The other ports of call were St. Thomas (US Virgin Islands), Puerto Rico, and the Grand Turks. We decided to take our chances on touring the areas without purchasing the cruise shore excursions, which were significantly higher. We weren't discounted. Make sure that you don't accept the first offer. We got good deals but found that it if you continued walking you would get better deals.
For example, we looked at taking tour of Puerto Rico from the ship (about 2 hour tour was more than $50 per person). However, we got the island tour for $25. Yet, we found out that others got the same tour for $15 and $10. It pays to shop around. However, you got to be careful.
In St. Thomas, we got another deal on a local tour. For 15 minutes (and speeding down the road beyond the speed limit), the tour guide never said one word. He finally made a time at the beach where let some folks out to the beach (they were unsure if he would come back). With the last time, the driver started talking with us and we were satisfied. It appeared that passengers had paid the tour guide money to see different things for the same price. My wife and I came out with the best value.
The entertainment on the cruise was outstanding. Jacque, our cruise director, made the ship atmosphere exciting with different line dances and events that everyone could participate.
We loved the LeeAnn who provided a great sound of renditions from Whitney Houston and Adele. The nightclub was a great gathering place after the Latin music and the ship shows.
Sadly, we were above the nightly activities. We found that out when we went to bed early. We couldn't go to sleep with the noise. Please keep this in mind when booking.
Your placement of the statement room is vital.
We met a lot of friendly people and forged long lasting relationships. The Eastern Caribbean Cruise on Carnival provided a great vacation. I would recommend to others.
