ECLIPSE is a gorgeous ship from stem to stern. The crew was friendly and accomodating to the extent that they could be.
The Internet service needs to be looked at. I had to wait two hours just to get my laptop modified for use. Normally, one only has to find a computer, sign in with your card and then select the plan that you want. That was a bad way to get started on a cruise. Also, the ship's computers are at classroom style tables so you don't have any real privacy. These are the same computers used for classes so if classes are going on, you're out of luck. The staff was very cordial and held up well under the passenger onslaught. I don't blame them, I blame the process.
There were very long lines returning to the ship in Le Havre and Cherbourg in bitter cold, no less. I saw another gangway on a lower deck available but passengers were not directed to it. Again, the crew was doing the best they could but the process and available scanning equipment needs work.
The library was kind of a joke. There is no attendant but they don't need one given the selection of books available. I believe they may have gone to the nearest Public library book sale and loaded up. I hadn't heard of any of the titles. Bring your own reading material if you plan to sail on ECLIPSE. A good library is something I look forward to while cruising especially on a transatlantic with very few ports of call.
Waiters and bussing people really have to scurry on ECLIPSE. On occasion it impacts on service.
I think Celebrity is cutting corners on staff. I'm sure it's the old bottom line thing again. He who comes up with the lowest cost per passenger...wins. Let's hope that cruising doesn't go the way of flying which has become not much better than a cattle herding process.
We had a great cruise overall. The entertainment was outstanding. They just need to work on the little things, maybe a person here and there to get away from the little annoyances.
