October 23rd,2012 my wife and I arrived at the Fort Lauderdale cruise terminal approximately 12:30 at which time we were advised due to tropical storm Sandy our itinerary would be reversed. Princess showed good judgement in the changes although we missed Grand Cayman ( not able to tender) as well as Colon Panama ( civil unrest) so we were only able to visit 3 out of 5 ports of call.Enough said on to the review of the ship.
The Island Princess is in need of a total refreshing, top to bottom.
- Ship 1 hr late departing due to propulsion issues.
- Upon entering stateroom B416 it was found to be spacious but signs of wear and tear, especially in the bathroom visible mould , stained toilet seat, no cold water and when one flushed tiny black particles of pipe sediment filled the bowl.
One elevator was non operational for a day and a half. During a sea day near Panama (hot) the main pool was closed for a morning not to mention one of the hot tubs for a full day. More
Various restrooms were as well closed. The carpets on the pool deck we always wet and stinky.
The captain gave very few positioning and or weather reports. All entertainment has been cut by 15 - 30 minutes probably a cost savings. Entertainment poor compared to other lines. Never seen meatloaf or fried chicken offered before in main dining room. If you just want a cruise nothing special go Princess otherwise my recommendation is to try another line. Less
