We booked Oceania Riviera's Accent On Italy cruise as a complete package, including air, hotel, transfers and most all our tours. From the time we got off our plane in Rome, Oceania took over and it was clear sailing from there on. We opted for the Marriott Grande Flora in Rome. It was a wonderful 4 star hotel. The transfers from airport to hotel and hotel to ship were comfortable, on time and the personnel very courteous. At the port embarkation was effortless.
The ship is amazing. Beautiful beyond belief, but yet very welcoming. The personnel were extremely courteous, helpful and personable. The ship is immaculate, as was our stateroom. We had a concierge balcony stateroom which was lovely, roomy and very comfortable. The bedding is unbelievable. We had four suitcases full of clothing and shoes and everything fit into the closets and drawers. Amazing!!!
The restaurants definitely lived up to expectations. The food was wonderful. Everything was fresh. The restaurant we liked least was the Grand Ballroom. Although I am not a buffet lover, we found that the way the buffet was run (with the staff serving), and the amount of choices on the menu, including the various stations, was much more to our liking. Who can turn down steak, lobster, shrimp and crab every night! The specialty restaurants were a dream.
We booked most of our tours with Oceania. Some were great, some were terrible. The tour in Venice "Hidden Treasures of Venice", was the worst. The guide spent 25 minutes discussing a Renaissance painting. Then they had all they could do to keep the tour together and not lose anyone. Oceania really needs to offer smaller tours in Venice. This was our bucket list trip to Europe. We are so glad we booked it with Oceania.
