Sailed on the "Enchanting Danube" from Budapest to Passau with the subsequent Prague Extension. Some thoughts:
1. Service aboard the ship is very attentive. I think this is somewhat the norm on the Euro river cruises and aboard the River Beatrice was no exception.
2. The food is good and certainly acceptable but not outstanding or particularly memorable.
3. Both the standard and optional excursions are very much in need of improvement. Firstly, the groups are much too large with no sense of engaging in something unique or exclusive--much too typically touristy. Some of the guides are fine but many if not most are simply just functional and offer little in the way of good commentary or insight. I would recommend that paying extra to engage the service of a local guide on your own would be a better use of time, or just simply strike out on your own.
4. The Prague Extension was in large part a fiasco. The local Uniworld contact and guide was very much overwhelmed. The official tour included a ONE HOUR AND FORTY FIVE MINUTE BUS RIDE FROM THE HOTEL TO THE CASTLE (neither the guide nor the driver bothered to check that the route would be under heavy construction). The tour itself was like being a cow herded through chutes--an absolutely horrible experience. I would strongly suggest that those wishing to go to Prague do so on their own--it will be a much more rewarding experience.
In short: Uniworld does an overall good job but not what you would expect for what is regarded as one of the more premium operators.
