We were 2 couples with 3 of us celebrating our 60th birthdays this year. We had sailed on Celebrity Silhouette last year on a Western Mediterranean and so decided to celebrate by doing an Eastern one on the Solstice this year. We were not disappointed although we thought the Silhouette was a little nicer. We did like the added attraction on this ship of the hot glass blowing and attended about 5 of their shows. We liked the life's lessons shared by the captain each day and enjoyed Alejandro as the cruise director. The food was good, the entertainment okay, but the itinerary of ports was excellent. With the help of Cruise Critic members and other sources, advanced planning really paid off. Here are some highlights of what we did:
BARCELONA - spent 3 days pre-cruise at Marina View B&B Great place to stay!
We did the 2 tours offered by Runner Bean Walking Tours which we also highly recommend. We booked our tickets online for Sagrada Familia with a time of 30 minutes following the end of our Gaudi tour. That worked out well, as the line for tickets was at least a 2 hour wait.
