Ship Facts: Celebrity Silhouette Review (by Cruise Critic!) | Celebrity Silhouette Deck Plans
Very Good but not great
Having taken nine previous cruises with six other cruise lines, we were anxious to try Celebrity after hearing so many positive things about it. In a nutshell, we expected Celebrity to be a step above Princess, RCI, or NCL. It was not. That's not to say it wasn't very good. It just did not exceed the expectations we had for it. First, the food in the Grand Cuvee was very inconsistent. Whereas on one night you might be served an excellent lamb shank, on another I was served a dried out veal chop which I sent back. The desserts were generally awful with so called cakes being no more than horrid jello like concoctions. The exceptions included very tasty Creme Brulee and Lava Cake. In the Oceanview Cafe the busing service is terrible as bus people often walked back and forth without even glancing at the dirty dishes to be bussed. I saw people bring up their own dishes out of frustration. I complained to a manager but nothing much changed. But despite these complaints we were never tempted to seek alternative dining at the outrageously priced specialty restaurants.

As far as the Entertainment onboard, we found the Silhouette troop very enjoyable and their Velocity show superb. However, the juggler, the magician, a singer named Judy, and even the Silhouette band were all amateurish. We have a real problem with entertainers who have no real act except to embarass audience members. In general, we thought the entertainment on Celebrity was one of the poorest we have experienced in our cruises.

We also agree with previous reviews about inadequate storage in cabins and constant nickel and dime selling on board.

On the positive side, the ship is beautiful, our cabin attendants were excellent as were the waiters and staff in the Grand Cuvee dining room. The ports also were quite good, with Dubrovnik and Split Croatia, Kotor, Montenegro, Taormina,Sicily and Lubjiana, Slovenia as special.

All in all, we enjoyed our cruise and because we paid a fair rate for our concierge class cabin, we felt we received good value for our money. But would we go on Celebrity again? Perhaps, but only if we received a really great deal.
