All and all the cruise was great. We had one or two minor problems but most of these could be overlooked. Lets go into details
My family and i were literally the first passengers on board. Because of this we were given a special we were given a "special greeting" that included balloons, guitars, and party confetti. This was a great memory. The only negative about embarkation was that the floor that my room was on took an extra half hour to make. But seeing the treatment that i just recieved, i will overlook that and still give embarkation a 5.
Public Rooms: 3
I'm going to go ahead and count the pool as a public room. The pool was good for my famies and friends needs, but there were some flaws. Most notably the incredibly underage kids (im talking about extremely annoying 10 year olds) flooding the four surrounding hot tubs. One major advise is to move to another hot tub once one kid shows up, because many more always follow. If you don't want to move than call over the life guard, he will remove the kids from the hot tub. The public rooms were average other than this. So im giving public rooms an average rating.
The room was perfect, but my 5 foot 4 son slept on the sofa and said the his legs were going over the edge. The next morning when i was lying down on the sofa bed watching television, i found myself having the same problem as him. The balcony however was perfect, so for that give the cabin an above average rating.
Fitness & Recreation: 3
The fitness center was only ok, but i found myself on the basketball courts more than a few times. Not enough shuffleboard courts, only two which are always occupied.
Can't really give a strong explanation for this, but i felt pampared
I can easily divulge into this. The fact that we have to pay for the best restaurants isnt really fair, especially since two of the four meals i paid for sucked. The only thing on the cruise worth paying for is the steakhouse. The massages are also extremely over priced.
For this i will evaluate the restaurants i ate at along with a rating out of 10.
Aqua (7)- The main dining hall. One major tip, only order of their everyday menu. There specials aren't that great. Avoid lobster night, may have been the worst lobster tail i ever had. This place did have exceptional salmon tartar and the best french onion i ever had, and i have had a lot of french onion soup.
Italian Restaurant (6)-Really good tomato and mozzarella appetizer. Amazing seafood pasta. May have serve me the worst Ossobuco i have ever eaten. The hole in the bone was so small my fork couldnt fit and when i asked for a smaller fork they said they did not have any.
Steakhouse (9)- By far the best meal of the trip. Amazing crab cakes and chicken. The coffee cake and dessert was five star quality.
Sushi (2)- Its what you expect. Dont order seaweed salad. It was one bite large and expensive.
Blue Lagoon (7)- Best tomato soup i ever had. Stear clear of the wonton soup though. Fish a chips are decent quality and paninis are ehh.
Buffet (5)-I hate buffets and this one did not change my opinion one bit. Quality of food was scary.
Chocolate Buffet (-1)- This was the worst chocolate buffet i have ever dined at . A bag of oreos drenched in animal pee would probably taste better than the chocolate here. Worst chocolate buffet i ever scene.
Food was average, but not amazing.
This was the biggest let down of the cruise. Six of the seven shows had been highly praised before. Only the comedian managed to entertain me. Don't bothering wasting your time with the other shows.
The Service of the stewardesses and the waitresses were surprisingly great. i had read some bad reviews before i went on, and i was scared the service would suck, but this was the best cruise ship service i have ever experienced. Thank you Norwegian, this part made my trip.
Shore Excursions- 5
St. george and Horseshoe Bay were both amazing. Loved both beaches.
Value For Money:4
The service was key for this category, and as i already stated, this was the best service i have ever experienced.
Kids Camp/ Teen Center- 3
My son made it clear that every single person in the kids camp wound up "hooking up" with someone else during the cruise. My son was no exception and on the second day he met a girl who he was in a relationship with for the rest of the cruise. My son said the activities were fun and most of the people there were great, except there was one main problem. There was one counselor that was awful.
Overall Rating: 4
All and all this was an amazing cruise. A few flaws in the dining and the one controversy in the teen club easily ruined night number 5, but since the other six days were great i overlooked it. The great memories easily outshines the negatives. I would sail on the Star again, however im going on the breakaway next summer. I can honestly repeat that this was the best service i have ever received on a cruise.
