Lets start at the beginning...Boarding (and unboarding): both a pleasant surprise. From being dropped off at the ship about 12:30pm, everything about checking in and boarding went smoothly and we were in out cabin in 45 minutes. (will describe leaving the ship at the end)
Cabin: typical cabin for size and style, so nothing really new about that...worked out fine for us. The bed was VERY comfortable, so whatever mattresses they use keep them! Our cabin attendant was terrific and kept everything clean and ship shape, usually more than twice per day...he was GREAT!
Our daughters sent us a "romance package", so we champagne and canapes were delivered and we enjoyed them on desk as we sailed away the first night! Thanks K & R !!
Dining: this was the first week of a new menu change and it was delicious. We tried just about everything and I can't say enough about how well ALL the meals were prepared and served...good job RCCL! Our head and assist. waiters were very good and very attentive...they did a great job! Did not eat at the specialty rest. but I've heard nothing but praise for them? Windjammer was a great place for a quick meal and surprisingly, we always got a seat when we needed it!
Entertainment: BRAVO RCCL!! By far, out of the seven cruises we have been on, the entertainment on Freedom was the best! From the ice show to the main theater, to the big screen on deck, to the Bull & Bear Pub (our favorite)...all of it was fantastic. Pulling it all off and doing a great job was our cruise director Graham Seymour...he was the best!
Suggestion to RCCL: on future cruise ships...put the "pub" and the "wine bar" side by side with both separate and common entrances to draw patrons from both, into both ?? The Bull & Bear Pub was a frequent meeting place for all, especially the UK's. We had a great time meeting people there and singing along with the guitarist! But the wine bar hardly ever had anybody in there??
Adult pool and hot tubs: GREAT idea...made for a much better cruise, not having to be around all the very young children and families. Certainly needed for adults who really want to socialize and have a drink or two! And those hot tubes suspended over the outside of the ship...crazy but nice! Note: they are very WARM, so go in the pool first...then the hot tub!
Future ships: make this area bigger !!!
Leaving the ship: was just as easy and went smoothly as boarding, had breakfast and were waiting in the Promenade at assigned time, our number was called only 15 minutes later and we were off and had our luggage 20 minutes later...very efficient!
All in all this was a fantastic cruise and made our celebration that much more special. After being on Sovereign, Navigator and now Freedom..we LOVE RCCL and will be back for more!
