This was our 2nd cruise to Hawaii, the first being with Princess (Island).
It was our 2nd cruise with Celebrity - our first was a Panama Canal cruise on the Infinity.
It will be difficult to describe this cruise. My husband and I love cruising and rarely find a cruise disappointing.
Here are the pros and cons:
Pros: Great excursions from Celebrity, better than on our last Celebrity cruise, but still not as good as Princess. Nice stateroom. Emo and Crispin, our servers at dinner, were wonderful.
Cons: Horrible food, especially in the Island Cafe. Service was the worst we have encountered on a cruise ship. The staff often seemed bored, aloof and sometimes even rude. The food just rarely changed - it seemed basically the same day after day. Many times, the island cafe seemed understaffed.
Food in the main dining room was not much better. The service, however in the main dining room was excellent.
We were tendered in Maui for 2 days. Tender experience was awful, but we experienced the same on the Infinity. Celebrity really needs to work on improving this.
Boring merchandise in the shops. We were on a cruise to Hawaii, yet very little Hawaiian merchandise. The selection never changed.
The ship is old and shows it.
Entertainment was just not up to par with other cruise lines.
This was our first cruise on which we did not participate in pre-booking, mainly because we were uncertain if we wanted to cruise with Celebrity again.
