Ship Facts: Carnival Breeze Review (by Cruise Critic!) | Carnival Breeze Deck Plans
Breeze from Barcelona 02 AUG 2012
THE SHIP: Brand new, very nice, bright & fresh decor. Public spaces mostly very well thought out and laid out. There were lots of people on this cruise, 1/3 of the passengers were minors of all ages, mostly tweens & teens. Never felt overcrowded. Aft dining room is the place to be for the unobstructed view.

THE CABIN. Cove balcony, again new, fresh & bright. Very nice. Washroom typical of similar sizes on other ships. 110V and 220V available. Mini-fridge in cabin. Flat screen HDTV. Balcony is quite a bit more spacious than regular balcony. Balcony is under lifeboats, so in the shade most often. This was OK for us as it was very hot during the cruise.

THE FOOD.

Main Dining room: 4/5.

Lido buffet: 4/5, with the exception of the deli, 4.5/5, excellent sandwiches.

Burrito / Taco Bar: 4/5

Guy Burgers: 4.5/5

Fat Jimmy's C-side BBQ: 4/5, excellent sausages & sides, pork too dry, chicken OK.

Tandoori: Did not try.

Sushi: Did not try.

Steakhouse: Did not try.

Cucina de Capitano: Did not try.

THE STAFF:

3.5/5

Mostly eastern Europeans, not accustomed to proper customer service. The long time Filipino or East Indian crew were GREAT.

THE ENTERTAINEMENT:

4/5... saved by Cool Breeze Band with Regan the lead vocalist...otherwise 3/5

THE PORTS OF CALL:

5/5 Wow, Wow, Wow... but we had never been to Europe before...

THE SHORE EXCURSIONS:

Only took 1 with the ship, in Marseilles... AVIGNON & CHATEAUNEUF du PAPE. Excellent, despite the crowded bus.

Naples / Rome / Florence / Sicily.. all done with "Share a Shore Excursion in Italy" ... great value for the money, excellent service, personalized service. HIGHLY RECOMEMND.

Barcelona / Venice / Dubrovnik... we did on our own... VERY EASY.

- Barcelona: Hop-On & Hop=Off "bus turistic"... inexpensive, narrated, 3 routes, hits all the sights... perfect.

- Venice: 36hr Vaporetto tourist passes, inexpensive, great coverage, easy to read maps.

- Dubrovnik: Shuttle to Pile Gate... inexpensive... easy to walk the rest.

HOTEL in Barcelona: Hilton Diagonal Mar... right across from large shopping center with fast food & sit-down restaurants. PERFECT. a bit far from the cruise port... 15E taxi ride.
