A good cruise.

Sail Date: October 2012
Destination: USA
Embarkation: Los Angeles

The california coastal on the sapphire is our fourth princess cruise and was chosen for its ports. We live in new york so i think we were in the minority of passengers since many people seemed to be locals.the sapphire seems to have come out of her sprucing up looking wonderful.
We had a minisuite which i consider the best cabin on any cruiseline for the money. And as usual our cabin steward was first rate.
As a matter of fact the entire crew seemed as newly polished as the ship itself. The waitstaff in the international dining room, traditional, was great. And Mainer the matre'd was the best. He made every meal delightful.
Unfortunately i think the food itself was a step down from what they usually served. And the Sterling Steakhouse was a big disapointment. There was just nothing special in food or presentation. Even the desert was mundane. My wife and i make a point of trying the special restaurants on the ship we sail on. This did not measure up to disney More Paolos or carnivals Nick and Nora or any of the others. It wasnt bad but there was nothing that made it a night out worth the cost.
My only other observations are that the casino seems to have taken out a good portion of its machines and given the space over to tables and chairs for lounging. This makes it impossible to find a machine in the evening. And i personally wished that we had at least one whole day at sea just to relax. Less

Cabin review: Sapphire Princess Mini-Suite with Balcony Dolphin D402

The perfect balance of space and function. Could use a few more small shelves in the bathroom.
