Just to clarify my review. My husband and I are retired, in good health, with good sense of humor and are not foodies. We enjoy elegant dining, dancing and socializing . This short cruise was to celebrate our 46th Wedding Anniversary and my Birthday.
Embarkation was very well organized and smooth. Our stateroom was adequate for two people, plenty of closet/drawer space and was always kept clean by the ever smiling young lady. All the staff were extremely courteous and helpful.
We had "as you wish dining" and after a nice cocktail in the Crooners Bar we usually dined around 8pm. We never had to wait for a table for two and most times we even had our choice of table. We found the food good in all the venues and we even tried the pizza one afternoon and found it excellent.
Most of the passengers were elderly Americans with a smattering of other nationalities. There were a few couples in their 40's and maybe two couples with young children.
We did visit the production shows and the entertainers certainly tried their best, (and this is just our personal taste of course) but they were not to our liking.
We thought the Wheelhouse Bar extremely elegant, the Explorers Lounge great for shows and dancing, Club Fusion, great for dancing and the Skywalkers looked a great night club for young people. Unfortunately, Princess did not seem to organize their daily activities well. When we wanted to dance most people were either at the show or playing trivia/bingo in the Explorers Lounge and it's not much fun dancing with just two other couples on the dance floor in Club Fusion or the Wheelhouse Bar. We were most disappointed.
Another disappointment - we found the hot tea in the Horizon buffet most disgusting. The water had a dreadful smell and when we complained, we were told it was the chlorine in the water. This was not true because the tap water served in the dining room was perfectly fine. I told them that the water containers in the Horizon buffet were being cleaned with a strong cleaning substance which in turn tainted the water.
We did two shore excursions, one in Catalina, a 45 minute coach drive along some perilous roads in the hills to see Catalina from above. And, a wine tour in Ensenada which was pleasant enough but the free bottle of wine we were all given was quite awful.
Disembarkation was delayed for half an hour but once our number was called, it was quick and easy.
We found the ship excellent and the staff efficient and friendly but we decided to cancel our future booking with Princess because although our complaints may seem trivial, they were very important to us so that we would have an enjoyable cruise.
