Canary Islands and Azores

Sail Date: September 2012
Destination: Canary Islands
Embarkation: Southampton

This was our first cruise with Celebrity, had a great time we will sail with them again. No problems with embarkation and disembarkation.

The Eclipse is a beautiful ship, spotlessly clean with the crew diligently cleaning up after everyone, and very friendly. We had a balcony cabin it was lovely, bathroom was brilliant, the shower is the best and easiest I have ever used. Only problem with cabin is the lack of drawer space, there is over bed storage but impossible to use if vertically challenged. Steward Lesley and Assistant Steward Kevin were really good.

Really enjoyed the food on board, did not use speciality restaurants, only Oceanview Cafe and MDR Select Dining. Breakfast and lunch in the buffet had very good selections, enjoyed everything I ate, but in the evening the selections were limited. Food in dining room was excellent, only missed one night everybody in the party enjoyed their meals. Did not use room service.

Entertainment was good, some More better than others. Went to sky lounge most nights after 10 as this is were the ship band Twist of 8 played, and they had the interactive parties with the dancers. Best event was dancing with Stripes, good laugh and enjoyed by everyone. Maria Kelly and her crew were great at keeping everyone entertained with their Celebrity activities, especially Maria herself and Michael.

There were two pool parties, a bit cold as we were at sea, but the biggest problem was the seating as people had been sitting on the seats and beds in their wet costumes during the day, so we had to get pool towels to sit on.

We had needed to go to the Dentist, the Concierge Rafael was excellent, he and the port agent worked together to arrange an appointment with an English speaking dentist, if he had not been able to get an English speaking one he would have went with her to translate. They took away all the stress of trying to arrange these things in a country you could not speak the language etc.

We had a great holiday, and will do it again, Celebrity did an excellent job of looking after their guests, we would recommend cruising with them to our friends. Less

Cabin review: Celebrity Eclipse Concierge Class Panorama Deck (9) 2103

Great balcony, apart from the strong winds/breeze, excellent location for pool, stairs, and lifts, very quiet.
