Celebrity Silhouette Cruise Review by Keke27: Summer on the Silhouette

Summer on the Silhouette
Destination: Europe - Eastern Mediterranean
This was a 13 night cruise with only 2 days at sea. At first I thought another day at sea would have been good but because we had been to some of the ports before we were able to still enjoy the amenities on board the Silhouette.
We loved so much about the cruise but thought the entertainment in the Celebrity Theater was outside the 'excellent' range. The sets for the production shows were sparse and some of the entertainers were so-so. We did very much enjoy Jon Courtenay. It was surprising how few people were in the casino too.
We had dinner one night at the Tuscan Grill (one of the specialty restaurants) and enjoyed it so much we went back a second night. Just wish they were a bit lower in price to attend.
We know Celebrity is running a business and they make money on the excursions, but we wish they would provide more information for those of us who want to do things on our own. Having been to many of these ports before we were not interested in the More 5 to 10 hour excursions. Rather sometimes we just wanted to stroll around the town but sometimes the town was not that close to the port. CC helped with this but sometimes additional information would be helpful because we did not always know where this ship was docking.
Not happy about what happened in Mykonos. We were suppose to tender and be dropped right in the heart of town, but instead we docked and were being charged $8 per person for a bus ride into town. It was sold as 'you can go back and forth all day for the price' but let's face it, most of us want to go and come back once. We would rather have taken a city bus but we couldn't get any information for it - especially because this was unplanned.
We asked if shredded hash brown potatoes could be added to the breakfast venue after all since they served baked beans for breakfast surely shredded hash browns was not an unreasonable request. They were served every morning to our delight.
The TV channels were void of any programming featuring US sports and there was an abundance of the more liberal news reporting from CNBC, MSNBC, and CNN. After asking they were able to add a Fox News channel.
Overall a wonderful experience and we cannot wait for the next cruise with Celebrity. They have us hooked with the benefits we get a Elite Captain Club members!! Less
