We loved the Liberty of the Sea's ship. Did not see any of the shows. Ate mostly at Windjammer--a lot of delicious choices.
Took a car service to the ship from the airport. Check-in was quick!
Provence, France--Did the ship tour Olive oil tasting and visit to Le Castellet. The tour started at noon-so we had time to relax and ease into the time zone change. The tour was good-we had free time in beautiful Le Castellet to shop and then took the bus to a farm for the olive oil tasting.
Nice, France--Tender off of the ship right into the port city, plenty of shops, cafes and a fort to tour.
Florence, Italy--Private tour with, Joe Banana Limos, arranged by a cc member, excellent! We got a good overview of the city (they gave us a map highlighted the meeting place and things of interest) and then had plenty of free time for shopping, touring and lunch.
Rome, Italy--Private tour with, Joe Banana Limos , arranged by a cc member, tour was good but we felt a little rushed to get it all in and no free time to explore--Rome is amazing would like to go back and spend more time there. They did get us back to the ship on time in the city traffic!
Naples, Italy--Walked off the ship right into the city. They have an info booth set up just as you leave the ship with maps & people there to give directions. Plenty of shops (but most of them you can find in nyc--so did not do any shopping here), cafe was wonderful, also a fort that you can tour a very short distance from the ship. Enjoyed walking around and sitting outside at a cafe.
Portofino--Food was amazing. I had the shrimp risotto, seafood schichabob, and ricotta pine nut tart=all delicious! (The only thing that we didn't like was the $7 charge for a bottle of water-crazy!)
Took a car service to the hotel.
Barcelona, Spain--We did 2 days of the hop on hop off bus and that worked well to see all of the main sites. Used Booking.com for the hotel, Barcelona Rooms (yes that is the name of the hotel) we booked at room with private bath. It was near the subway and an easy walk to La Rumba (shopping street). The room was clean BUT would not stay there again-it was loud at night-people talking & dogs barking made it hard to sleep.
The hotel was 1 block from the bus to the airport--very easy 5 euro pp. Oh at the airport before you go thru the last security check if you want to do any final shopping to use up any euros head downstairs. Once you pass thru the last passport check there is no way to access the lower level of the airport where all of the shops are located. They do have a duty free shop and a small cafe on the upper level.
