Awesome Epic Experience

Sail Date: September 2012
Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean
Embarkation: Barcelona

We decided to book this 7 day cruise as our 2nd week after spending the first week on Liberty of the Seas. We knew we would be running around to all the ports the first week, and wanted some relaxation time after that one, so opted to book the Haven 2 bdrm villa.

From the moment we entered the terminal for check in the experience was more than we could have imagined. Haven guests are escorted directly there by staff upon check in. After a tour of the complete area, lunch is served in the Epic Club and you can access your rooms around 1 pm. The service and attention to detail are second to none.

The entertainment options were fantastic - we were able to see the Legends, Cirque, BMG, jazz club, Headliners, and other live performances throughout the ship. Each one we enjoyed immensely.

Dining options were great too - we dined at Moderno's and Taste, Garden Cafe and Cagneys. The rest of the meals we enjoyed at the Epic Club.

The tender experience in Cannes More is so civilized - you make reservations either at the box office or on the interactive TV for your tender time, and then show up! no line ups . . it works beautifully.

The staff are all upbeat, friendly and helpful. The ship was easy to navigate once we realized decks 8 - 13 are all passenger cabins, so focus on decks 5 - 7 and 14 & 15, and it's not hard to get around.

At first glance, the impression was the pools are small, but what the real winner here is the amount of space dedicated to lounge chairs around the pool area. I would think you would never have trouble finding a spot to lounge.

We only got off in three ports ( Naples, we were off all day doing a trip to Capri, Rome all day but Cannes we only were off a few hours), so we had ample time to experience the ship and all it has to offer.

We will absolutely book this one again! Less

Cabin review: Norwegian Epic

the Haven 2 bdrm villa - we were only 2 in the cabin. The view from the bedroom out the big window in the bathroom was fabulous each morning. There are screens to draw should you wish privacy when in port, but when at sea you can see out to sea from the shower. The cabin is well appointed, roomy and the bed was very comfortable. Ample storage space. Loved the lavazza coffee maker and it was kept well stocked. although the balcony is small, it is wedged between your bathroom and living room making it very private and quiet, as you have no neighbours right next to you.

Port and Shore Excursions

Cannes is an easy tender ride - and great that you can just walk around the beautiful town as soon as you arrive. One of the few ports on this itinerary where it wasn't necessary to take a train or transportation into the main city.

Private Tour

(5.5)
We booked privately for a trip to Capri and this one was outstanding. We took the ferry over and were able to do all of Capri and Anacapri by private car and walking.

We took the train from Civitavecchia to Rome - was very easy and the trains were running that day thankfully - (there was a train strike the day before!)
