This was my fourth cruise in as many years and the Diamond Princess provided a wonderful holiday with some fantastic ports of call.
The staff/crew on the Diamond Princess were warm, friendly and attentive
With the backdrop of the Sydney Opera House the champagne on arrival with our cabin attendant Maria was a lovely touch and my wife and I were made to feel very special given we were celebrating an anniversary the balloons on the entrance to our mini suite just added to the occasion.
We headed north to Qld then to Darwin then many sea days to Hong Kong then Taiwan, Japan Korea and China.
As the days grew colder the jackets came out but the enthusiasm from the staff never cooled, it didn't take long to find my daily routine from table tennis to the choir to trivia to relaxing in the adults only pool.
There were so many highlights and that was just on-board that the destinations at times seamed secondary.
The entertainment was extensive and the dining commendable.
The dinning room staff could not do enough they were thoughtful and courteous and at all time professional in attitude and appearance.
The movies under the stars attraction provided a wonderful contrast, during the warmer part of the cruise I watched the super bowl with a couple of knowledgeable Americans then later on sitting under a blanket on a freezing cold evening with snow like flakes falling around four hardy souls engrossed in the evening movie.
Even the slow boat to Keelung due to a typhoon/cyclone was handled well and the late arrival meant for a late departure which allowed us to eat at the local night market.
If I were to suggest improvements to the Diamond Princess food and beverage manager....... teach the cafe staff on how to make great coffee,latte/cappuccino etc.
To the sports crew, arrange the more popular activities so you don't hang around for one hour before your go at carpet bowls.
Some of the talks were not that great but the movie selections were pretty good.
If I could cross over the sports activities and lectures on board the QM2 to the Diamond Princess that would make the PERFECT cruise.
Happy Cruising
