We just got back into port on Friday morning after our second cruise on Monarch. The first time we went with another couple, this time we were joined by 14 others.
We live in NC, so we drove down to Cocoa Beach on Sunday and stayed at the Comfort Inn and Suites. We bought the stay and cruise package. When we got there, we were also given a free drink pass per person and a upgrade in room to include a kitchenette. Our shuttle left at 10:45 the next morning for the port.
Embarkation, as always, was quick and easy.We were on the ship by 11:30. I went to the explorations desk and booked a wave runner excursion for my wife and went to the guest services desk and put money on our sea pass card and we were eating lunch by noonish.
Day 2 at Cococay was interesting... They got the first tender off, but it started raining so hard that they had to delay the tenders for about 45 mins or so. When it quit raining, they resumed and we got on the second tender. My wife decided the water was too rough for a first timer, so she decided to get a refund on the wave runner. We went on the nature trail and found "blackbeards grave". Then, we found a couple of chairs in the shade. It then began to rain again, so we just headed back to the ship (we had been there before anyway). Formal night was the usual. We always get mutiple formal pics taken, so we have a choice and with 7 people in a pic, we needed multiple shots!
Day 3 at Nassau was awesome weather. We walked down to the Harley shop and the Hard Rock Cafe. By then, we were getting hot and some of the folks are elderly. So, we decided to go back to the Festival Plaza and get a private shuttle to take us around. We went with "Pearly" on bus 93. She was wonderful. My brother had mentioned trying some local beer and conch salad, so among our stop and parliament, police HQ, the piers where the local fisherman sell their catch, we stopped at a liquor store for the Kalik and a local place for FRESH conch salad, he took the conch out of the shell and cut it up in front of us. Then we went over to Atlantis for a bit before we were picked up again. Then, we were returned to Festival Place. This is by FAR a better way of getting to ATlantis than the water taxi. There was no way my Mother could have walked to ATlantis from where they drop you off.
Day 4 of course at sea. Just kinda hung out in the Viking Crown after gettin my big tail up the rock wall twice.
Like has been stated before, the windjammer food is usual buffet food. In my opinion, as with every time before, the dining room food was the best Ive ever had. I dont understand the people that write reviews saying the food was "ok". Our cabin steward was Choky and he was great also. Again, NO complaints about ANYTHING.
