Over priced cruise
Day 1-4 To much time in Moscow. Shore excursions were very good but how many churches can u c.
Day 5 Town of Uglich very little to see. Shore excursion to a local home was good.
Day 6 Town of Yaroslavl could do without
Day 7 Kirillo-Belozersky Monastery "boring"
Day 8&9 Unable dock bad weather. This was the most boring part of the cruise. Viking had no alternate plan for this. We had nothing to do for two days.
Day10-13 The best part of the cruise. Loved the Hermitage,Catherine's Palace,Peterhof Palace and behind closed doors.
Day 12 Many passengers asked if we could go shopping we were told yes. After lunch a bus arrived to take us shopping. So off we go shopping. To very ones surprise we went to one store in the middle of town were no other shops existed. This was quit clear the ship and or Viking Cruise and the store had this pre planed. I wanted to buy Russian Vodka with Russian labels this store had Russian Vodka with English labels. So much for shopping More in Russia.
The ship: No phone anywhere except in your cabin. When your traveling with other people a phone in the dinning area would be very helpful to contact them. Stairs in front of the dinning room very steep some one will fall.
Tour guides excellent
Wouldn't recommend this Cruise to anyone! This cruise could do away with everything except St.Petersburg
Last year we sailed with Viking on the Grand European Cruise. Everything about the cruise was a 5+++++. So we anticipated the same for the "Waterways of the Czars river Cruise". Not so, very disappointing except for St. Petersburg Less
