We just returned from our Norwegian Sky cruise this morning. I would like to begin the review with a positive: the crew was very kind and professional, as well as accomodating. We booked an oceanview guarantee cabin, so didn't know until the day of sailing what cabin we'd be in. As it turned out, we were on the bottom deck (4), which we didn't mind at all. However, it was a very noisy cabin. When we docked at the 1st port on day 2, the noise of the engines shutting down lasted 45 minutes beginning at 7am. It was a pretty annoying, loud noice and, since we were traveling with a 3 year old, it made sleeping in the morning difficult. We spoke to the desk and they were kind enough to switch our stateroom that day.

We were, overall, not truly impressed with the ship, though. We have been on 4 cruises in the past: 3 Carnivals and 1 Royal Caribbean, so it was impossible not to compare this one to those and unfortunately, this one didn't stack up, not even close. The ship is older and simply didn't have the amount of entertainment or even simply things to do that we had hoped. Past cruise schedules were filled with a wide variety of potential activities for those who chose not to disembark at the ports. In addition, the nighttime shows didn't even compare to those we experienced on the other cruises, inluding the Carnival Fascination about 7 years ago, which wasn't renovated, etc. In general, it felt as though things were lacking. The food was mediocre at best, both in the dining rooms and at the general buffet. More choice would have been appreciated, particularly with regards to vegetarian options (some travelers may be true vegetarians or even vegans and the few vegetarian options available sitting right next to the pork salad, etc with small pieces of pork falling into the vegetarian options could have been avoided).

Finally, cabins were very, very small. While this is par for the course, as compared to past cruises, there was very little space to organize our things (no drawers, etc). In addition, we found several stained towels.
