Ooops! Tried a second Time.

Sail Date: September 2012
Destination: Western Caribbean
Embarkation: Fort Lauderdale (Port Everglades)

Embarkation and debarkation were pretty seemless.

We carried our luggage so we went straight to the room and it was ready!

We really like to enjoy the ships and the buffet dining so we did not take advantage of the main dining area. Maybe we should have. SOOOOOO this revie is based on the buffet. They had a Mongolion Wok which I did not try. It must have been the best on the buffet because the line was always extremely long.

The buffet was okay and it was kept clean. I ate a lot of salads and deli sandwiches. Sometimes, the fruit was not always fresh, There was not one time I said, "You know, this is REALLY GOOD!" We had a tough time getting the omelet chef to understand what soft scrambled eggs were. He was burning every omelet he cooked. In fact, we explained it to one of the executive chefs and he immediately understood what we were asking. So we made the chef throw out the eggs until he got it right. This should not be....

Also the dining More cushions did not "look" clean - very dingy.

It felt as though the ship was a little overcrowded in the pool and outside lounging areas. I hope the upgrades include space for another pool.
There were children playing in the area immediately prior to the Sanctuary which is the adult only area. How serene is that!

It also seemed as though the children were not involved in the children's activities. The childrens' areas seemed smaller than other ships so I hope that is upgraded.

As far as music and entertainment, the passengers were very diverse but the entertainment did not appear to be.

The stateroom and cabin steward on the Verandah were great as always. One floor from Lido so we walked up and down. We left a little extra for our cabin steward. Although we book a Balcony, we were not able to enjoy it because of Carnival's smoking on the balcony policy. It doesn't do any good if the person on both sides of you smoke. I really think they can group smokers together!

Another reason we like Carnival is the Seaside Theatre for the movies. It appeared that they were pushing in-room movie viewing because they showed old movies. The new movies were in-room.

Overall, if you like the basics of cruising and are not too particular about the buffet OR will eat in the main dining room each night, then this is the ship for you! Happy cruising! Less

Port and Shore Excursions

Island Tour

(4)
We got the tour for $20 per person. Since this was the second time, we knew exactly where we were going. The Dolphins, the rum store, Hell, Governor's House, and a brief look at the city. It was in an air conditioned bus and the tour operator was very friendly.

Beach Break

I must preface that this a $2.50 per person tour so you can't expect much- more by car. AND this is a state park. I was trying to find a low cost because we had been to this port before and wanted to experience something different. The walk to the entrance is about 20 - 25 minutes depending on ability. After you reach the entrance you have about another 10 minute walk to the beach. You will reach the Fort first and you can use the restrooms, get a soft drink or water, and tour the Fort. The beach is right next to it. There is also a trail in between the beach and Fort. It did not say where it went:) So we did not take it! The beach is VERY rocky and a little trashy. I had water shoes on and stepped on a rusted nail. So if you go, wear tennis shoes until you get to the sand. It also had a foul smell so we didn't stay long. However, we got some exercise in!
