Carnival Elation Cruise Review by fastrock: Good boat, Good crew

Good boat, Good crew
Destination: Western Caribbean
Embarkation: New Orleans
Took a B2B starting Sept 17th - 5 Days followed by 5 Days. Our last time on the Elation was 2004. We enjoy the class of ships with a common blvd, used to be Carnival Blvd, now Elation Way.
Stayed at Ramada Inn - Metairie, took the Stay and Cruise package. Nice clean rooms, elevators smell bad like rotting fish, probably standing water from Issac. Secure free parking, several cameras monitor lot. Good buffet breakfast. Provided ride to port, taxi required to return.
We are VIP, so priority embarkation and debarkation went quickly and smoothly. Didn't even have time to eat a cookie on embarkation. This is our 4th B2B and we were very pleased with cruise transition process. Got our new Sail&Sign cards the night before.
Boat is well maintained, crew, housekeeping staff and dining staff were excellent. We are not foodies, but many on the first half were. No problems, we just stay out of their way.
The beach vendors disrupted beach side lunch in Progresso More on first visit and did a boat day on second visit.
In Cuzumel, we did Islandtours/Hireadriver with Gerry. Excellent tour of east side of Island, several photo ops, climbed to top of lighthouse. Had an excellent lunch at Bonita Playa restaurant with an awesome view for all. Did some shopping prior to re-boarding the Elation. Highly recommend the tour, they will customize to your likes. On second visit, we visited Toro's Place restaurant on Modecon and 5th Calle. Been here several times, excellent food, good tequila selection and the best view of the Modecon, beach and ports in San Miguel. Less
