We flew in Sat afternoon from Boston. We arrived in Ft. Lauderdale about 2:45pm, but because we had to wait for a HAL bus (and the driver got lost!), we didn't get to the Zuiderdam until almost 4pm. If you are arriving late your probably better off taking a cab, it's only a ten minute ride.
Embarkment took a total of ten to fifteen minutes and we were in our cabin, just in time for the life boat drill.
We had a VA cabin 8066, mid ship on the Navigation deck. There was some concern on some cruise boards about this cabin because it is next to the glass elevators and the balcony can be partially seem. It turned out not to be an issue and you actually have a better view. Great cabin full bath, lots of closets, safe, mirrors, mini bar. Our cabin steward Rudy was great, met him on the first day and explained what our needs were, ice, towels, etc. he couldn't do enough for us. We made sure to give him a little extra in the beginning and at the end.
