ready to cruise again

Sail Date: September 2012
Destination: Bahamas
Embarkation: Port Canaveral

our first day we drove down to Cocoa beach - 10 hour drive.. we stayed at Radisson Resort at the port.. beautiful place ...was $160 and you could leave your car parked there while you were on the cruise and they shuttled you to & from the ship no extra cost.. the package was Stay park & cruise. we got up at 8:30 and got ready and headed down to meet our shuttle.. We got to the port and were on board by noon..would have been much sooner but the person who was supposed to have given us a zone card after the metal detectors failed to do so..by the time we realized we didnt get one we got stuck in zone 12...

We went to get lunch soon as we got on board and ate burgers from the grill by the pool and then explored around the pool & golf area & slides and then had the funship drink ...walked around and sat in some deck chairs for a while.. then we took our stuff to our room at 1:30.. we had an aft balcony on the Upper deck...a decent sized room..i expected it to be smaller... it More wasnt spacious either but there was enough room for us.. then we went and explored the atrium and found where our dining room was located then found a spot on the lido deck for sail away.. there was music & dancing as we watched the port slip away.. The first night was pretty rough.. we couldn't really eat dinner from being a little nauseous.. our tablemates at dinner said that was the most rocking they had ever felt on a ship.. for dinner that night I had spinach and artichoke dip for a starter couldnt eat much of it though and i had the grilled flat iron steak for dinner off the every day menu.. only a couple bites and we didnt stay for dessert.. our first towel animal was a dog. we had planned to go to the adult
comedy show but we ended up taking dramamine and going to bed early..

we woke up feeling much better the next morning ..by the way if you get an aft room plan to get woke up by the engines and towboats when the ship docks..we got ready and got off in freeport and took a taxi ( was $20 for 2 people roundtrip) to Port lucaya marketplace and beach... the water was beautiful and so blue but the women were sooo persistant about their hair braiding.. be prepared to be annoyed.. we ate lunch at billy joes on the beach. we tried the cracked conch and pina colada which was very strong .. didnt taste bad but i didnt like the texture ( its very chewy and tough)..then we swam in the ocean some more.. went back to the ship and enjoyed some time on our balcony then went to have some snacks from the lido buffet and some sweets then napped..got ready and went to all the picture settings, then we went to dinner ( elegant night) for an appetizer i had the roasted west indian pumpkin soup which was really good & creamy, hubby had the alligator fritters-pretty good as well. i had prime rib of american beef au jus which was not very good but i ate some of hubbys lobster tail & shrimp... he asked for a second one and they brought it out like 45 mins later service was a little slow that night... and for dessert the warm chocolate melting cake.. YUM.!! hubby ordered the cherries jubilee so i could taste it..
also our server at dinner was Michaela she was wonderful and always had our drinks ready & waiting for us.. i never caught the guys name but both were great!
tonights towel animal was a monkey. our room steward always kept clean towels and a freshly made bed. after dinner we explored the ship a little more we went in the casino and city lights bar and found some of the different lounges ..

Day 3 we got up early enough to go get breakfast at the lido buffet i had scrambled eggs bacon potatoes and toast hubby had the same plus pancakes ..we got off in Nassau and walked around in the festival place building i exchanged some american money for bahamian money ( i wanted some to bring home) then we started out on the walking tour i printed out.. we realized 5 mins into it that it wasnt a good idea.. there seemed to be a lot of sketchy people hanging around & bums sleeping in the center and like 20 women yelling at me to braid my hair..we ended up finding a tour guide his name is Ronald.. $50 for 2 people and it was a 3 hour tour HE WAS AMAZING!!! he really knew the area & history ... he was very knowledgeable and had a wonderful personality. it was totally worth it.. he took us to all the sites, showed us hospitals, colleges, we got to
get out at Junkanoo beach & the queens staircase & fort fincastle, & we went to atlantis and were able to go into the casino, showed us upper class middle class and poverty level homes.. told us tons of facts ..again.. he was great if youre looking to see the bahamas find RONALD he will stop wherever you want him to and slow down so you can take pictures ..after that we mozied around the port and then ate lunch at the lido buffet ..today was carribean style food..not very good but not terrible either and of course sweets!! i had 3 diff types of cake every day....then i took a nap and hubby explored the ship ....got ready for pictures and then at dinner i had shrimp cocktail for an appetizer and grilled chicken breast on fettucini with a mushroom cream sauce.. it was delicious!! hubby had shrimp cocktail for an appetizer and 2 entrees - Cured salmon with candied tomato.. he said it was gross i didnt try it & broiled filet of corvina just to try neither of us had ever heard of it or had it.. it was okay but not great.. and for dessert i had tiramisu and warm chocolate melting cake hubby had the apple pie. during dinner the staff did a show.. pretty funny! one of the servers got on the pole and danced one was on stand.. then we went to the room and tonights animal was a frog! we hung out on our balcony that night and went to bed.

the next morning we got on the tender for half moon cay.. this was our favorite place! the water was soo beautiful!!! we sat on the beach and swam all day.. we had a snorkeling excursion booked but it was canceled the night before.. we ate lunch at their island barbecue .. lots of carribean style sides and i had a hot dog too hubby had a hamburger with his.. rum cake was yummy! we got pina coladas from the pirate ship bar which was awsome inside ( i love pirate stuff) again after we got back on the boat we napped then got ready and went to the promenade as usual for pictures then to dinner ..for an appetizer i had lobster
bisque hubby had 2 orders of shrimp cocktail for dinner i had 2 entrees i had the penne siciliana and the bacon mac n cheese..hubby had the chateaubriand with sauce bearnaise ...no idea what it was but it was okay.. for dessert i had the grand marne souffle (it was TERRIBLE ..tasted like eggs) i dont think they torched it.. and the warm chocolate melting cake which was always delicious.. hubby had the warm chocolate melting cake and a cappucino.there was more dancing tonight at dinner entertaining and comical :) we went to the serenity deck after dinner and enjoyed the jacuzzi and then we went to the lido pool which was suprisingly empty so we had it all to ourselves and i had a bahama
mama and sat in the jacuzzi for a while.. then we explored more of the ship and then off to our room. tonights towel animal was an elephant...

the next morning sea day-we laid in bed for a while then went to get lunch at the mongolian wok walked around finished packing things up went to the ice carving contest on the lido deck -it was an indian.. i cant remember what else we did then we had sandwiches from the deli i had the turkey wrap and we ordered a ham and grilled cheese just to nibble between us and he had the pamastrami and corned beef on rye. we stayed on our balcony for a while and enjoyed the ocean then we got ready for pictures.. went into the gift shops and walked around the boat for a while to see if there were any parts we hadnt explored yet... had our pictures made and headed to dinner... i had the shrimp cocktail and the tomato mozzarella caprese hubby had crab cakes i had the bourbon and honey glazed roasted spring chicken (which i didnt care much for so i just ordered a steak) hubby had the grilled mahi mahi both came with some kind of cheesy potato side dish which was delicious! i ate his and mine : ) for desert baked alaska and warm chocolate melting cake hubby had 2 warm chocolate melting cakes.. we said bye to our table-mates..which by the way we loved all of
them! we were all around the same age and got along great. and this was the first night i was unable to sleep everyone around us was very noisy all night..

we were doing self-assist debarkation because we had plans for after we got off.. the next morning they called our deck at 7:30 and since we had 4 suitcases we got to use the elevator and didnt have to wait in line at all..when we got to customs the line moved very quickly we were there maybe 5 mins.. then it was down and we were off the boat. our next few days we stayed at the double tree on cocoa beach and went to wet n wild which was a blast!! they had the coolest rides! we also went to the beach some the next day
it rained all day and our last day there we went to seaworld also.. we ate at several places in florida..
fishlips was great...captain J's.the food was GREAT service sucked... several fast food places.. and our last night we ate at Floridas seafood.. this was hands down the best meal we had.. the food and service were WONDERFUL!!!! i will absolutely cruise with carnival again and hopefully very soon ...

bring lots of dramamine if youre on one of the smaller boats.. i have never in my life gotten motion sickness from anything ..not a ride at a theme park or a car or a regular boat but that first night was miserable!!

i have pictures of everything even the food i just couldnt figure out how to get them in this if anyone is interested in seeing anything please feel free to email me Lnb6587@yahoo.com Less

Cabin review: Carnival Ecstasy Balcony Main U202

our cabin was very nice. the balcony was wonderful.. we were on portside so we got to see things coming into view. plenty of shelving and clothing space ..safe was very tiny though -my purse wouldnt fit in it.. and the showers are very small.. when docking in the mornings if you have an aft cabin youre going to get woke up.count on it. it was also pretty noisy the night before debarkation ..but we loved it and will book a balcony again just not aft.. maybe mid

Port and Shore Excursions

most of the stores in port lucaya marketplace were tourist souvenirs and the women are everywhere asking if you want your hair braided!! lucaya beach had pretty water theres tons of water sports to rent right at the beach and billy joes is right on the beach if youre looking for somewhere to eat lunch
