Marina/Baltic Treasures Cruise/August 2012

Sail Date: September 2012
Destination: Baltic Sea
Embarkation: Stockholm

This was our first cruise with Oceania, however we are not a stranger to cruising. We were looking forward to the cruise and visiting parts of the world we had not yet explored.

We booked our cruise through Oceania and our cruise consultant, Luis Rodriguez was very helpful in the booking process. He helped us book a perfect stateroom.

We traveled to Stockholm 2 days early to become use to the time change. (highly recommended). The embarkation process went very smoothly. We arrived around 12:30 and had lunch. We were able to go to our room around 2:30. Our luggage arrived promptly.

The ship was beautiful and even with 1,200 +/- passengers it did not ever feel crowded and is a comfortable size. We rarely had to wait for an elevator to go to our room. The staff were some of the most friendly of any cruise.

Our room was A1--Concierge Veranda and was a perfect size. There were many drawers to store all of our stuff. The bed was very More comfortable.

We booked our dining reservations online as soon as that process was opened. Red Ginger was our favorite and the 3 others were equally outstanding. The Grand Dining Room and the Terrace Cafe had great choices of food, as well. We ordered room service for breakfast on the days of our excursions. The food arrive promptly. We also booked the La Reserve and had a wonderful seven course dinner with wine pairings. This was limited to 24 guests and the evening was outstanding. Great food, wine and conversations.

We made many new friends at the Martinis Bar. Austin and his side kick made some outstanding drinks. We did not make any of the shows so we can not give feedback on them. We did visit the casino and made new friends there. The day that we had to skip the port of Visby due to rough seas, we played bingo. Out of the 4 cash prizes, both my wife and I won out of about 40 players. It was our lucky day!

We booked 4 shore excursions with SPB which was highly recommended on the roll calls on this site. We traveled with the same 14 new friends on all of the excursions. We walked around the other ports and did our own thing.

Disembarkation went smoothly. We quickly found our luggage and had to wait only about 10 to 15 minutes for a taxi.

While the on-board Internet was expensive, we were able to connect in most ports which was free. Our goal on this cruise was to disconnect with Internet, phone and TV.

Conclusion: I would highly recommend Marina. You will not be disappointed. The ship is outstanding, the staff friendly and the food was great. Looking forward to our next cruise with Oceania. Less
