Carnival Sensation - NEVER AGAIN - terrible honeymoon...

Sail Date: September 2012
Destination: Bahamas
Embarkation: Port Canaveral

We signed up for a VIP junior suite with a balcony. The VIP access gave us express check in and check out...that is where your VIP status ends. We had no extras given for VIP access once we were on the ship.

The food was terrible. It was fast food quality at best, even in the main "formal" dining room. We did "our time dining" for dinner which we enjoyed but the food was terrible. We didn't see a banana that wasn't bruised the whole time. Even room service bananas were bad. Room service food was cold if supposed to be warm and warm if supposed to be cold. They serve yogurt and milk at room temperature...it's very unappetizing! The food preparation for the buffet's is done outside which attracts bugs and flys and I'm surprised they haven't been shut down by the FDA.

My wife was eating chips and salsa one day from the "off the grill" buffet and found a small worm attached to one of the chopped up tomatoes in the salsa. Our appetites were finished at that point. More The coffee was average at best, the lemonade tasted like pure concentrate. The ice cream was bad and all the deserts were very bland and the pizza was old. If you do this cruise you will be disappointed in the food...it's just plain terrible.

The ship was very rough the first and last day causing myself to get sea sick 3 times while on board. The ports of call were dirty and not desirable. Our excursion was not even close to as nice as their description...it was simply a bus ride to a random small beach where they gave us a rusty beach chair (no umbrella) and a small plastic cup with fruit juice in it.

We paid about $1,400 total for this cruise with our options. It wasn't even worth half of that.

The things they did well were embarkation and debarkation. It was quick and VIP status certainly helped us. Our room attendant was nice and the servers in the dining room were great. The transfer service was great and quick.

We walked away with a terrible taste in our mouth toward Carnival and I will never cruise with them again. This ship needs some serious updates and the food preparation standards have to go up with this ship. We did an all inclusive with Secrets in Jamaica after our cruise and it exceeded our expectations and was an excellent vacation with tremendous service.

Thanks for taking the time to read this review...I hope it helps you as you make your cruising decision. Less

Cabin review: Carnival Sensation Balcony Main V42

Our "junior suite" was smaller than expected. The decor was extremely outdated and the bathroom felt "cheap".

Port and Shore Excursions

Not much to do directly at the port...we did not take an excursion here because I was still getting over sea-sickness.
