Last 4 cruises we have driven to the port. This eliminates luggage fees, lost luggage, airport hassle, delays, etc. and since we are retired we are really not on any time schedule. We drove from Dallas to NOLA, took about 9 hours. This was the weekend after hurricane Issac, so we were lucky to get a room at a Quality Inn, which was very clean and accommodating. We could also leave our vehicle there for the duration of the cruise.

Been on the Conquest twice out of Galveston and we love the ship. She needs some TLC and we are happy she goes in for refit this month. We had a balcony cabin on the Lido deck...my hubby loves to get up early and go right to the breakfast buffet. The cabin was great and the balcony lovely.

Thought all of the staff was very welcoming and had no problems with anyone...from our cabin steward to the casino staff, dining room, steakhouse, etc. excellent. Room service was also excellent..no long wait and we ordered all different times of the day.
