Our first cruise and we decided to upgrade from a Junior Suite to a Grand Suite a few weeks before we left. By doing this, we saved a lot of money as the cost of the GS had reduced considerably when we upgraded. Only problem being GS not always available at such a late stage.
GS 1530 although perfectly clean and superbly attended to by our Suite Attendant was a little tired, don't worry about this if you are booking in the future as the ship is in for a full re-furbishment in November 2012 (we just missed this). Cabin nice and quiet under the relaxation area of the adult only pool. Balcony double the size of most on the ship.
Concierge bar wonderful, this saved us a lot of money, complimentary bar between 5.00 and 8.30pm. Spirits, wine, champagne all available. This saved us so much money, we had more than enough to drink and only ended up spending £270 on the ship for the 12 night cruise. Although there was a notice saying not to take drinks out of the Concierge bar the Concierge told us to take a drink back to the room if we wanted to. (Think what they are guarding against is having drinks given to other passengers who should not have concierge service.
All facilities on the ship superb as with the customer service everywhere RCI employees really dedicated to their jobs and cannot do enough to make your trip a pleasant one.
Food was great and although we did eat in Chops, you really did not need to as Reflections dining room presented a fantastic choice of food.
15 year old daughter not seen for most of the trip. There was so much for her to do. She made so many friends and said that this is the best holiday she has ever had!!! For my husband and I it was like being on holiday alone. There was a 1pm curfew when all teens had to be back in their rooms if they were not out with a parent.
The last day of the holiday saw very choppy seas 20ft waves unusual for the med in August. The captain had to divert the ship to a new route!!!
