The staff remembers names on first encounter and are eager enduring smiles at every moment. Embarkation was endless with port staff reporting that they had not seen such a mess with other cruise lines.
Ship was clean and well maintained.
The shows were O.K. with dancing and singing relying on far too much flash and dash, distracting from the substantial talent. Shows were a mere thirty minutes.
The Scottish group which performed on board was terrific.
The Captain made a number of alterations to our course and itinerary due to safety concerns. He also was very helpful in warning of a potential need to prepare for rough seas.
The food was just a good start. The executive chef promised "Every Plate Perfection." I am not a good judge of dinner ware, so it could be that each plate was perfection. The food was not. The menu was difficult to translate into just what might be presented. The beef dishes were mediocre at best. Fish dishes were often "tired". More Waiters were unable to describe what ingredients might be in a dish, since they reported that they were forbidden to ever taste the food. They simply did not know.
Buffet food was flat. Some of the dishes hinted at potential flavor, yet the seasoning was so light, one could not be sure. Breakfast sausage each morning floated in boiling grease. Bacon was merely warm during the first part of the voyage. Later, after a number of complaints, there was some crisp bacon available. It seemed that the executive chef did not oversee the operation or taste what was offered. Vienna sausage was mislabeled as Italian. Chicken noodle soup was labeled "miso". The food service would have been better overseen by the pastry chef who turned-out mouthwatering rolls every day.
Passengers were indeed blamed for Princess' poorly managed tender operations in port...it took many attempts at the ports to come to somewhat better management.
Coffee is repulsive. Expensive, buy it by the cup up-graded coffee is little improvement.
Port lectures were delivered far too late to plan or to modify plans already set. Speaker appeared knowledgeable about the ports, but not about speaking. Her delivery was more as if she were reading a phone book.
The ship's staff is amazing. Captain Kent perfect. Next Princess cruise, I may need to pack a lunch. Less
