Our first Regent cruise was a very positive experience. We did the Mediterranean, 14 days from Lisbon to Venice, August 23 to September 6 on Mariner. Food was excellent, service was superb, excursions, for the most part were good as well. We were in a cat. A penthouse and had no complaints about it at all. Our room attendant, Coney and butler Ketut were both outstanding. The suite was always well maintained and well stocked with our favorite drinks and snacks. Ketut was there with our coffee every morning, always smiling and ready to assist in any way. The only real complaint I had was the cost of internet, which will become free on our next sailing.
On the food front, Compass Rose, Signatures and Sette Mari were wonderful. Our first visit to Prime 7 was not very good, I do not recommend the NY strip, however the second visit with the surf and turf was excellent. Signatures was a pleasant surprise, we totally enjoyed both visits there. The standard wines served were good, but then again we are not wine snobs, so fairly easy to please. Perhaps the biggest surprise was of all places the pool grill. After our excursions we would visit and have the tuna or salmon burgers which were outstanding, as well and some local dishes featured on the buffet. La Veranda was ok for breakfast, but it does get a little tiring after a few days, if one can ever tire of a hundred or so well prepared, freshly made items every morning. We did eat one breakfast and lunch at Compass Rose which was a nice break and very good. The only draw back with Compass Rose is the time factor. It does take quite a bit longer to eat breakfast or lunch there. We only used room service once and it was quick and tasty after a long day in Venice. Service was always good throughout the entire ship.
The ship was in great shape and you can tell that Regent takes pride in keeping her that way.
Walk in closet, great balcony, very quiet location, ample space.
