If you sail the Epic, get ready to open your wallet and pay for things that are standard on other lines. Took a spring vacation with a group of friends, they picked the line and ship. NCL's "free-style " cruising really translates into how to get you to do everything for yourself and think its wonderful! Staff was pleasant enough but nobody went out of their way. Ship was clean but pockets were not, our balcony came with crumbs that were never cleaned. Cabins are small in the extreme and the split commode/shower experience meant no privacy and someone slept 6 inches from the toilet- not a pleasure during the night! Our only contact with our cabin steward was for him to tell us when he was NOT available!
Never had to wait to be seated at the restaurant but once the food arrived, the waiters disappeared. A second cup of coffee after dinner was not going to happen! The 15% service charge for EVERYTHING was a bit hefty.
Ports of call were good but book private tours. Again, you couldn't get out of the port on your own and NCL CHARGED for the mandatory shuttle!
Tiny cabin, not really twin beds, split but side by side. NO privacy with see through bathroom. Huge balcony, would have preferred larger cabin.
