Ship Facts: Monarch of the Seas Review (by Cruise Critic!) | Monarch of the Seas Deck Plans
Came back satisfied
We booked a short getaway for my husband's parents 50th wedding anniversary. We picked it b/c we had a party of 12, all live near port canaveral and wanted a slightly inexpensive cruise.

We normally book a suite, but got the superior oceanview stateroom and were quite happy with how clean it was. Overall the room was small but we were not in cabin for long periods, so it was perfect.

The food overall was up to par with what we normally expect. Hot, plenty and pretty good choices. We already knew the ship is leaving the fleet, and thought it might show signs of some neglect in overall appearance and though the ship does show signs of age, the cleanliness overall was great. There were a few issues with some of the mid-levels having severe smells of foul odor (maybe a pipe or sewer issue) They never lingered long, but it was annoying walking thru it.

The ship had plenty of activities and all of our party found some things to do. The pool is a bit on the small side and was great to visit when the ship was docked at port. We enjoyed it with virtually to ourselves.

The staff on this cruise was awesome. Most staff we encountered were smiling and pleasant to speak with.

Prices for alcohol and beverages appeared to be lower than on the newer ships, which we appreciated. My husbands beer of choice was a dollar cheaper than on our cruise previously.

We loved getting on and off the boat at port canaveral. It took us less then 20 minutes to de-board. FAST! We loved that.

Overall, for an cheap, fun, celebratory getaway, this hit the spot!
