This was my first cruise and our honeymoon.. I want to say that first before i start...
Lets start off with the great: the comedians at punchliners comedy club.. Adam hunter, allyn ball and especially happy cole were incredible.. Making fun of carnival was fun as every guest experienced the same headaches let us all laugh together.. Having to clear the club out after each show wait back in line was dumb and frustrating... Move this to a bigger area... Hopefully common sense will prevail and they will learn..
The cleanliness of the ship/shops was impeccable.. Also every interaction we had with the shops crew, guest service and our stewards were great.. The rest of the passengers were very diverse in age and ethnicity
Guys burgers were as good as everyone has stated..
The ports were good, they were reviewed individually later..
The bad/horrible: onboarding was unorganized chaos.. We waited for hours when we were told we could start boarding at noon.. Seems to be an easier way than waiting to check in waiting to board by zone waiting to get our first of 1458 pictures made waiting to cross the walk to the ship, then waiting along the side of the ship to find our way on board. We didnt start boarding until 230 and the safety meeting was another herding moment that was alot longer than it needed to be..
The food was average at best with baby size portions in the dining room. We were dine at your own time in the golden room which we still had to wait.. The wait staff was saddenly uninteractive as well as attentive.. The prime rib was 60% fat and had zero taste.. Had lobster one night and it was good.. The other food seemed preprepared and reheated for the most part and already portioned..
The non dining room meals were average except for the guys burgers.. Lines were painfully too long at every buffet and it seems if the staff was there to help more it might go smoother.. Desserts were average at best, ever other thing we had was bland at best
The hours for the meals were awkward and didnt coincide with port stops very well.. The pizza place was the only place offerring food after 11 pm.. Always a line there too.. No late lunches except for guys burgers was a disappointment.
the director and staff seemed to get more enjoyment out of making fun of people than anything else.. Seemed more like overzealous performers rather than interactive fun.. Karl with a k was more annoying than fun.. The song and dance shows seemed third grade recital yet less rehearsed and talented at best
The drinks were expensive, i wouldnt call it nickel and diming but more of a five and tenning you to death can be costly, fast.. Enjoy the five oz water or lemonade serving unless you want to fork over serious cash to drink..
Lastly.. We were on our honeymoon and wish there would have been more for us, people with birthdays got more attention than us.. Not asking for the world but having come from an allinclusive resort where our wedding took place compared to this seemed not 2% as special.. Special spa deals, one free drink heck anything would have been appreciated other than to make sure we get charged for everything would have been nice..
Oh and the disembark part.. Very unorganized like everything else.. Were told everyone had to be out of there room by 830 am.. Wish we would have known that earlier as well..
Overall we made the best of what we were offered.. Bring as much to drink as you can on board and drink cheaply off the boat the best you can.. The offboard carnival owned areas are just as expensive as the drinks are on board so explore plan and make the best of it
Probably will not do carnival again.. It was great seeing different places in so many days but for the money an all inclusive resort was alot better in value for those who enjoy a nice drink or a few on vacation..
Better service, better quality and better prices would make this 100 times better
