Ship Facts: Brilliance of the Seas Review (by Cruise Critic!) | Brilliance of the Seas Deck Plans
Wonderful cruise with little things to improve
We came into Copenhagen the day before and stayed in the Hilton Hotel right at the airport. I was a little nervous if it would be loud but it was not and it was a great hotel to stay in. You don't have to walk outside just go from the gate directly to the hotel. A metro station is right at the airport and it takes you into the center of town. Taxi to the port was 270 crowns which is about 45 $ per Taxi.

Embarkation was just fine, we came to the port around 12 o'clock and we just walked into the ship without waiting at all. We had lunch at the windjammer and it was packed which was normal for the first day. But the food was not good in the windjammer. It was blunt and tasteless and not much varieties to pick. I was disappointed on it. The sad part was, it did not get better during the cruise. This is why we ate at the MDR every night and morning. The food there was not blunt and tasteless, but as someone else said it is the same throughout the cruise line with little variations. We had one night a Russian special night. Which we did not have on a mediterranean cruise. The chefs came by twice to check if we liked the food at the MDR in the evening and this was very nice, so we could tell them if there was something bad. But as I said in the MDR the food was very good. Our waiter Navin was outstanding. He really knew what was good to take and made huge efforts to serve us what we wanted. They even tried to get key lime pie for us but the ship was out of condensed milk and that is why they could not do it. Sad, but they said one container did not make it to the ship in time.

The shows were excellent also and Anna Bass was outstanding. The magician was not my thing, but he tried hard to be good. But the dance couple from Argentina was outstanding also. They danced very, very well. It was amazing just to watch them dance. We also took a Tango Argentia class with them and this was great too. They really gave us a feeling about how to dance it and how you should feel as a couple dancing it. Not just steps but a whole feeling about it. Great!!

We did only one excursion with RCL the Greianger Fjord one and it was very well organized and done. We did the Greianger highlights. Spectacular views and great tour guide. One couple did not book the tour trough RCL and their tour got cancelled. They had about 10.000 people wanting to see the Fjord and 120 buses there that day. It was a high risk to book not the RCL and get a tour that day.

On the other ports we did hop on hop off and went perfectly well with it. Just in Stavanger it was useless because all the attractions of the town were in walking distance of the ship. Oslo is a great city and worth seeing any time and Bergen is too, we just had bad weather there. As our captain said 285 days of rain each year ;-) He was so funny and gave us very good information about the ports we went, history and what to see and very good weather information.

RCL did very well on this cruise to make us feel welcome and happy.

One thing I still not like and would maybe not cruise with them anymore is the smoking on the veranda. We booked a balcony cabin and it is not great to sit in smoke or when you have your balcony door open you will have the smoke in your cabin because the wind draft pushes the smoke right into it. NO FUN. On the RCL ships you can smoke on so many places I think you do not need to smoke on the veranda. We have three more cruises booked with Celebrity because of the smoking issue on RCL on verandas. On Celebrity smoking is forbidden on the verandas. There you can enjoy your balcony as much as you want!!!

All over we had a great cruise and if you are a smoker go for it. They really support you on those ships.

When we got off the ship which was very fine too, we stayed in the Mariott in Copenhagen. A really great hotel. And the hop on hop off boat tour just starts from the back of the hotel. Great tour to take you see all of Copenhagen but more because you go by boat.
