I slated the holiday we had on Azura last year so I thought i had better comment on this break which was the complete opposite(check out "miserable waiters on Azura)
Having had an awful cruise on Azura last year we decided that we would try another P&O cruise, everyone on the Azura that we spoke to stated that it was not as good as other P&O cruises.
so we embarked with a certain amount of trepidation...
not to worry, probably the best holiday we had had for a long time!
Waiters could not do enough for you, they went out of their way to accommodate even when one on our table wanted something different from the menu they obliged, they would have been tossed overboard on Azura last year!!
we visited brugges - lovely
Copenhagen - took the wrong tour, dropped off in 4 places to do our own thing! it rained so we sheltered and wandered aimlessly.
Helsinki - nice but would not go back unless we went out beyond the city.
St Petersburg - great More
really enjoyed the picturesque tour and the evening in the hermitage (inc classical concert) expensive but worth it, only less than 200 people in total, thousands during the day!
tallinn - great loads of Amber and my wife did her best to prop up the Estonian economy.
Stockholm - lovely especially the ride through to archipelago on the way out beautiful
Oslo - great especially the viking museum, only half a day not long enough!!
ship is a much better layout than Azura (and i guess Ventura) very similar amount of communal space but 1000 less people, crew really helpful, unlike most of Azura with the exception of one member of crew who had actually been on Azura and was now on Arcadia. he stood out on Azura as he was pleasant and helpful, as he was this time, obviously transferred off of Azura as he was too helpful to passengers.
overall much better ship, shows were really good again better than Azura, food was very good especially the select dining, Marco Pierre White (not Gary Rhodes) brilliant so much food that I could not eat breakfast the next day (not good... eat too much oooh!)
weather was also on our side having endured a force 11 in the Med and two force 8's, the worst we had was a 7, after the 11 everything else is a doddle.
a little boring, the cathedral was not open so we mooched around outside then went off to the Sibelius park to see some tubes(?) then off to the Rock church boring!!
glad we went but go on another tour!!
really well worth the trip, had to cancel the 6hr tour I had planned due to foot problem but we made our own way in by the shuttle bus, bit chaotic getting on the bus to go in but easier coming back except the first bus we got on was smashed into by another and we had to get off and get another, fun!!
